California Drought Crisis: A Water Delivery Company With A Conscience

Moen Is On A Mission. Kitchens And Baths By Lynn Is Showing Support.

We live during a time when water is quickly becoming the new "gold" of California. The second largest reservoir in the state started out 2021 in relatively good shape but dwindled so low in August that its power dam was shut down for the first time in history. What does this have to do with Moen? When it comes to water cutting edge technology to control water and prevent water damage, this company is a leader hands down. Moen meets the needs of the client and the environment with innovation:

  • U by Moen Smart Faucet: Touchless and voice activated to reduce contact with viruses and bacteria. Convenient and increases safety for Aging-In-Place.
  • U by Moen Smart Shower: Control flow and temperature with voice, phone or controller. Combines biophilic patterns including aromatherapy.
  • Flo by Moen Smart Water Shut Off: Monitors and controls whole home water system for inefficiencies. Will shut off zones if leak is detected.
  • Flo by Moen Smart Home Water Detectors: Detects excessive water outside of pipes, leaks, appliance failures and weather related issues.

Lynn has a significant client base of environmentally conscience people. They want to enjoy the luxuries that water can provide but they don't want to do it at the expense of the environment. After doing her research, Lynn found that Moen was a perfect fit for that requirement. As the principal designer she ensures that Kitchens And Baths By Lynn does its part, as much as possible, in mitigating our carbon footprint and environmental damage. She takes the time to find companies that are doing their part as well. In doing so, her clients can make educated and ecologically responsible decisions about what they want to use in their home improvement projects. One of the ways that Moen is meeting #MissionMoen is by well designed plumbing fixtures that save water by not wasting it in the first place.

When clients ask Lynn what else they can do to be more proactive, other than installing water saving technology, she often refers them to their "Deeds Of Water" program by 5 GYERS: Science to Solutions program. This collaboration with Moen was to encourage "pride-of-ownership" in the ocean. Plastic cleaned from a particular latitude and longitude was made into a plaque and auctioned off to support the efforts. For more programs to participate just visit the website.

“At Moen, we say that ‘We Design for Water,’” comments Birchfield. “That means we innovate and engineer products to make the experience of interacting with a resource we use multiple times a day more enjoyable, and we are conscious of how much of that resource flows through our products.”

Having said all of this, which products could you be looking at for your kitchen or bath remodel? Lynn suggests including the following in your design:

  • Flo: Think of Flo as a smart home security system suite for your entire home's water.
    • Smart Water Shut Off system protects your pipes and fixtures from the inside. It monitors for leaks and vulnerabilities.
    • Smart Water Detectors protect your pipes and fixtures from the outside. They are uniquely designed to sense excessive moisture in the form of leaks and pooling water often found in failing appliances and weather related conditions.
  • Flo App: From your phone you are able to monitor your home's water consumption and set goals. If you don't like what you are seeing, you can shut off the flow to your house using the app (good for your investment property). Get as granular as you like monitoring each fixture so you know where the greatest opportunity for savings is.
  • U: Uses smart/connected home technology to keep the water flow and temperature consistent and efficient. Set your shower systems and kitchen faucets to the temperature you want at the flow rate you need.
    • The Smart Shower works with Alexa, Apple and Google home hubs to follow through with your commands.
    • The Smart faucet also uses Alexa, Apple and Google to follow through with commands.
  • Nebia, Quattro Rainshower, Quattro handshower: Using half the water than standard shower heads without sacrificing water pressure. These are a MUST for California water conservation standards.
Let's take a beat and just enjoy how beautiful Moen fixtures are! Why wouldn't you ask Lynn about adding them to your remodel project? Doesn't if feel good to know your doing something to increase your wellbeing and participate saving our natural resources too?
